Product Demonstrator Jobs

Product Demonstrator Jobs

With so many products competing for the consumer dollar on store shelves and online, oftentimes, it takes a well-developed sales pitch and demonstration to help build excitement for a product, such as cars, software, house wares, food, and cosmetics. Product demonstrators help bring items to life by sharing with onlookers the benefits and value of their product line. Product demonstrators must have a thorough knowledge and a passion about the product theyre promoting, in addition to having strong communication skills, a high energy level, a cheerful attitude, and the ability to generate interest in the product without coming on to strong or seeming too pushy. Their conversational skills must allow them to gain information from their potential customers and clients, such as their name and contact information. Product demonstrators either can be the point person for a product or brand, which would be followed by a meeting with company salesperson, or can be expected to close the deal. The product demonstrator often must be able to do all this often while standing for long hours, sometimes in unpredictable or inclement weather conditions, while maintaining their professional enthusiasm for their product. Product demonstrators must not only be able to deal with individual clients and customers in several settings, they must also be able to speak to large groups of buyers, investors, or crowds at wholesale stores, grocery stores, and trade shows. Since these shows are often scheduled in various cities and times, a product demonstrator must have a flexible schedule and be willing to travel, work nights, and weekends. Foreign language skills could be necessary if clients are based in other countries. At the heart of this career are strong marketing and sales skills, and the ability to communicate through public speaking. Training often is performed on the job. And since a product demonstrator often works alone, they must be a self-starter and be able to work without supervision. No special educational skills are required, although a product demonstrator must have an ability to learn about certain products and be able to demonstrate them to clients and customers.
