More than one-third of insurance sales agents, for example, hold a bachelors degree, according to the Bureau. You also will need to have licensing from your state to work as an insurance agent.

To work in an insurance job, you need to have the ability to decipher and communicate information about insurance policies and coverage to customers, especially individuals with limited knowledge about insurance. If you are in one of the commission-based insurance jobs, you will need to have a self-starter nature and take initiative in finding and maintaining clients. In an insurance job, you could be working out of a physical office or traveling to meet clients where they work or live.
